Exercise is the same as playing for kids. It’s important that the play is free from achievement and that the adults don’t put prestige, competition or demands on the activity. Kids need to play and talent and tactics aren’t of any interest at this age. Kids don’t need to be good at what they’re playing, and that’s how it has to be.

If you’re having trouble activating your kids, something needs to be done immediately. It’s incredibly important for kids at an early age to get a natural, positive attitude towards exercise. If the team sports at hand don’t suit your child, or if your child is being bullied, the activity can be located elsewhere.

Being in nature is a free alternative, in an environment free from achievement and other people. What’s important is that you’re right beside them, as a positive role model and being positive and joyful about it. A stressed mother, with a ringing cell phone and a bad attitude towards exercise, won’t be too helpful.

Other exercise alternatives to do together:

·         Walking

·         Swimming

·         Climbing

·         Bowling

·         Gardening

Instead of a hard wrapped present, I love to give experiences. Today’s society is more and more focused on material things. We wish for and buy things for fun, rather than needing them. That’s how the market is and strangely enough we’ve forgotten the experience behind what we do. This has become more popular in the past few years as the spa trend has given experience a name.

I have always said that the importance of a gift isn’t in how much it cost, but in the thought behind it. Try to give your child a moment together with you, maybe the whole family or just the two of you. Every child can have one night a month when you spend time together, just the two of you, going to the movies or just talking.
